XD no, see, Hammers ‘N’ Roses was the band Steak, Buck, Trillby, and Fedora were all part of on the side, but when Steak left they had to disband, ruining Buck’s true dream of being the next hard rock sensation. Buck never forgave Steak, and that’s the real reason he’s after him now

Patreon doesn’t work like that.
Actually it kinda does, because, patreon is like when the pope or the medicis patronized Michelangelo — if they paid him and nothing happend his rep was shot and they withdrew their patronage.
In the modern day that translates to, you getting a bad reputation for not deliviering the art you said you needed money to help fund the time and energy to do. so then they will go pay their patreon cash to artists who produce.
So you are right that they wont get their money back, but, it is also correct you are poisoning your own well when you don’t give those donors anything back. I donate to several artists, and I am rewarded with awesomeness. If the awesomeness stops, so do my donations.
I love your comic, I hope it continues, but, I wouldn’t donate to it unless I knew that I would get more.
That’s the definition of a patron, yes, but that isn’t how Patreon works. People who subscribe as patrons using patreon are given the option each month on whether they’d like to donate each month or not, so that they have control over their funds. If they do not wish to donate for any reason, they don’t have to. So if a patron decides that because I’ve been unable to update for a couple months that they’d like to withhold donations until I am updating again, they can do that. I’m not taking anything from anyone that they aren’t giving with their full consent and generosity.
Patreon does not work on contracts that demand return within a certain time period. Instead, people donate to support causes– in this particular instance the cause it not to get more content from Wiedle, but to financially support her until she can afford to pull time away from work and devote more time to art. It’s a voluntary donation to help her ease into making comics more often, not a commission.
What do you have to do to be a skeleton with flashlight eyes and stitched lips? Buck is different, but is the look natural or artificial? Somehow the idea of him drawing lines on his lips with a sharpie and putting flashlights in his eyes amuses me, but a dramatic backstory is just as desirable.
That being said, the way you design skeletons is fantastic. You’re definitely the driving force behind my skeleton OC– particularly because I hate drawing spines and see-through ribs. I previously thought it would have been too difficult to make a skeleton character that was distinguishable, but you’ve expanded my mind to consider skeleton eyelashes, different jaw structures, hats, varied artistic representation. For that I am forever grateful.
It’s artificial, he had leds installed into his head and the lines are tattooed on. It was stated in wiedle’s blog once I do believe.

I don’t mean to be a pushy dick hole or anything, and I’m positive this isn’t the first time you’ve been asked this, and I’m equally positive it won’t be the last either, but just so that I personally know: are you continuing the comic? I love the art style, the humor, and the charactors, and the story blows just about every other webcomic out of the water, but you kind of ended on a huge cliff hanger and I’m really curious as to what’s going on with you.
They’re still working on it that I’m aware of, they put a wip picture on their Twitter recently. To my understanding they’re just bogged down with everyday stuff like work

So like, please take all the time you need/want to take care of and enjoy life ‘n stuff! My only request is that no matter how long the hiatus, Helvetica never gets abandoned for good or anything.
