as soon as they get to this world, they immediatly say something. according to the author’s comments, it’s like a sneeze. it just comes out. this is used as their name.
For some reason I’m thinking that they get there names is what they said before they died.
Good Heavens maybe got shot then was all like,” Oh Good Heavens!” ’cause he’s classy.
Steak maybe was a like, “Dude’s I got steak!”, then got stabbed or something because his roomies hate steak.
Helvetica maybe was a graphic designer and was asked what font he should use before he died.
Detective Lucy probably had a line that sounds like it came from an old detective movie, “In all this mess I forgot what I was really here for. Lucy.”
Your first words when you die aren’t necessarily the last words when you died. That’s such a confusing sentence! Basically, what one says when they arrive in the land of the dead definitely has something to do with their life, but it’s totally random and its significance is questionable.
My theory is it’s either their last words, or the last thing they saw, or something of great significance them them. Good Heavens could have been his last words and he could have died in any number of ways before exclaiming that. I think Steak might have died choking on a steak. Flashlight may have been murdered with a flashlight and that was the last thing she saw coming at her before dying. Helvetica, as they say, is a strange one, which I think was the point, lol
I thought the same! For some reason, this was the page that made it click for me too. My reasoning for “Steak” was different though, I imagined him as a prisoner on death row and they asked him what he wanted his last meal to be. And he chose steak and didn’t say anything after that.
……………..I FINALLY GET WHAT THE DEAL WITH GOOD HEAVENS’ WEIRD NAME IS
oh god i feel so slow how did this escape me for so long
Can you explain it to me? I’m super lost
The names they have are the first words they say in death. They’re also the last words they said in life.

Lucy is bad ass
i can totally see him dying while screaming “Lucyyyyy”
=P

your first words after you die are AAAAAAAAAAAAA
I don’t think a scream counts as a word.
lol
So if your last words are ” see you in hell ” this is to be your name when you die?

that’s so cool! LUCY.
You always colour everything so beautifully, and this page is just super swell <3
@alaskataylor– oh my gosh that is the best theory haha!
Thank you so much!
@alaskataylor if that’s true I bet ‘No’ is a common name.

That actually makes way more sense then mine
Well, I approve of this guy’s name (it’s my name too). Seeing as people think his name is awesome, does that make me awesome too?
Nope, thought not…
Great colors on this one. What brushes do you use in photoshop?
I use a brush that’s just called “Chalk” and play around with it in the settings to get it how I want it!
I especially love how soft it always looks (or is smooth the better word here?) In any case, it’s most absolutely fantastic!
“Are you…me?’
See! Even Helvetica noticed the resemblance! lol
(-_-)
I love Helvetica’s blush in the seventh panel. He’s so cute.
And hopefully Lucy will be his badass bestie for the duration of the comic because THAT would be just too awesome.
Lucy, no! Don’t you know smoking is bad for your… lungs…
Never mind, carry on.
Well, I can’t say I’m not intrigued as to what in blazes Lucy knows that we don’t. And Lucy is totally a hard-boiled name.
I just read all these, and I love it so far. Lucy is awesome, can’t wait to see where it goes.
lucy shakes with his left hand??
@VickyBit can you please explain it to me? I’m so lost.
ok i’ve got 2 things to say here…1 is detective lucy a girl or boy? and 2 lucy reminds my of underswap paps
